Executive
Director – Position Description
The Minnesota
Fathers & Families Network enhances healthy father-child and family
relationships by promoting initiatives that inform public policy and further
develop the field of fatherhood practitioners statewide. Learn more at www.mnfathers.org.
The Executive
Director is responsible for agency leadership, including: overall
administration and management of programs (chiefly technical assistance, public
policy, education, and advocacy ); statewide community outreach; resource
development; financial management; marketing/public relations; and other duties
as required for the Minnesota Fathers & Families Network (MFFN), a 501(c)(3)non-profit
organization. Duties include:
- Manage Finances: Actively raise funds, seek
and write grants, generate income and sponsorships, and work
collaboratively with funding partners.
This includes all duties associated with acquiring/maintaining
grants and contracts. Oversee all accounting functions including those
necessary for auditing, budgeting, financial analysis, and payroll, in
accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, board policies
and procedures, and all other applicable rules and guidelines.
- Maintain Statewide Presence: Develop new and support
existing MFFN membership of practitioners, advocates and other interested
stakeholders. Maintain strong statewide organizational collaborations and
networks with nonprofits, government agencies, coalitions, and
individuals.
- Lead Public Policy and
Education Efforts:
Develop, coordinate and manage the organization’s educational activities
in areas of public policy and professional program support. This includes technical assistance and
resource materials for new and existing fatherhood programs and human
service providers across Minnesota.
- Engage in External
Communication:
Act as the organization’s primary public voice. Lead the organization’s outreach
efforts, using virtual and traditional communication tools. Act as a public policy advocate for
fatherhood issues. Represent the organization at events, conferences, and
meetings.
- Lead Day-to-Day Operations: Manage the day-to-day
operations of the organization. Perform human resources duties including
supervision of staff, interns, consultants, and volunteers. Provide staff support for the MFFN board
and committees.
- Support the MFFN Mission: Assist the board in
developing and implementing a strategic plan and vision. Support the
principles and values of the organization.

- Ability
to communicate (written and oral) with racially, culturally,

management skills and experience

management

- Public speaking
- Staff management and organizational

- Proficiency with MS Office Suite: Access,
Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Publisher; and Quickbooks
- Comfort with and willingness to employ new
information technologies as they change and evolve
- Bachelors
degree in relevant field preferred
- Successful
grant writing and grant management experience
- Ability
to represent the organization at statewide events; approximately 20%
travel required
- Experience
working successfully with diverse communities
- Supervisory
and/or contract management experience
- Comfort
working with minimal staff or administrative support
- Experience
(4+ years) in fatherhood or social service field or in human services or
nonprofit management
- Proven
experience working autonomously with schedules that adapt to the
organization’s needs
- Consider

Compensation
Package
The position can be
structured either as a consulting contract or on an employment basis. Compensation is negotiable and will depend on
the applicant’s experience and qualifications. If employment based, competitive
salary and benefits package including generous vacation/PTO, flexible spending
account for health benefits, retirement, and additional benefits. If contract
based, please propose terms.
